Cranberry Melon Kiwi Smoothie

Cranberry-Melon-KiwiThis is a healthy breakfast smoothie by a beautiful friend of mine, Paige. Her measurements are a bit, well lets say not percise but I tend to be the same when making my own. Just pour in the fruit and lets see how it tastes. Has some of my favorite ingredients, cantaloupe and kiwi’s (love kiwi’s) and a natural and healthy sweetener in honey. Along with a boost of Omega-3’s from the flax seeds this will be a great smoothie to start out your day!

  • Handful cranberries
  • Handful frozen cantaloupe
  • 1 kiwi
  • 1 tsp raw honey
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tsp flax seeds
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk

They always taste better in a mason jar, trust me :) Enjoy

Pink and Tart Refreshing Smoothie

Pink Tart SmoothieSpring is here and Summer is around the corner. Time to start thinking of smoothies to cool you down during the day as well as to get you going in the morning. This breakfast smoothie will be sure to do both with all the red berry goodness in it. Be sure to add your favorite additive such as flaxseed or even some baby spinach (although it my not be as pink after it).

  • 1-1/2 Cup of frozen strawberries
  • 1 Cup of frozen raspberries
  • 3/4 Cup or real organic cranberry juice (make sure pure and no additives)
  • 1 Cup Greek Vanilla Yogurt

With the raspberries you can try puree’ them first then running through a strainer to get rid of much of the seeds. As much as I enjoy the raspberries, the seeds always ruin it for me. This will make 2-3 servings (unless your servings are like mint then maybe 1 or 2)

Cranberry Apple Smoothie

cranberry smoothieIts the holiday season and time to bust out the cranberries. What better way to have them besides with Christmas dinner but putting them in a delicious, healthy breakfast smoothie! Those little cranberries are a great source of vitamin C and fiber, as well as having lots of other goodies as well. Such as vitamin K, magnesium, iron and potassium. They have lots of benefits to your body and you should try working them in to your diet when you can! We are going to add a little greenery to our smoothie as well for another healthy boast!

  • 1/2 soy or rice milk (or filtered water)
  • 1 cup frozen cranberries
  • 1 whole apple cored (Golden Delicious the best)
  • 1 small banana
  • 2 cups baby spinach

Put it all in and blend baby blend (in your blender of course). Mentioned that you can use water or if you prefer you can use cranberry juice itself just make sure its a good natural/organic quality with no additives (pure juice). I like to add a banana to most my smoothies as it helps to smooth it out as well.



Pom-Berry Breakfast Smoothie

POM Wonderful Pomegranate JuiceI was wandering around costco the other day and ran across this big bottle of POM pomegranate juice and thought, hmmm that would be good in a smoothie. Pomegranate juice is packed with antioxidants, in fact more than any other juice. Studies have shown that pomegranate juice may help prevent hardening of the arteries as well as protect you from heart disease, cholesterol and even stress! The great thing about POM is its 100% pomegranate juice, nothing else, so makes a great healthy and natural smoothies additive. This is what I threw together the other day and in fact have had it a couple times since its so good.

1 1/2 Cup POM wonderful juice
1 Banana
1 Cup frozen strawberries
1/2 Cup frozen cranberries
1/2 Cup frozen raspberries
1 Tablespoon rice vanilla protein powder (optional)

Mix in blender for 30-60 seconds till smooth. Makes about 2 large glasses of a delicious tangy berry smoothie

Carrot Berry Smoothie

Last post we were inspired by Popeye, this time we will be inspired by bugs bunny and add some carrots to our delicious breakfast smoothies! Carrots are great for improving vision, nourishing your skin and anti aging antioxidants!

2 medium carrot
1 cup frozen Cranberries
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 whole apple (cored and sliced)
1 cup baby spinach
1 Tablespoon ground flax seed (optional)
1-1 1/2 cups water

If you have a weaker blender you may want to slice up the carrots and grind them up first. You can even substitute fresh carrot juice if you wish (just decrease the water by same amount) Even with a Vitamix its a good idea to grind them up a bit first before adding the rest. This does have a slight carrot taste but you really don’t notice it with the berries. If you do just add some more berries or peaches. Oh and have to remind you again to check for stickers on your apples (I forgot again).

Breakfast Berry Blast Smoothie

This Healthy smoothie is very smooth, creamy and and tasty. A great way to start the morning with everything you need. lots of protein, vitamins and antioxidants. Great with a bowl of oatmeal or a tall glass to go.
1/2 frozen strawberries (3-4 large ones)
1/2 frozen blueberries
1/2 frozen cranberries
1/4 cup of non fat vanilla yogurt
1/4 of water
1/2 banana (optional but recommended!)

With the yogurt you can use soy or other style to substitute, I like to use Greek style as it has highest amount of protein and I can tolerate a little diary in my diet. Now the banana, well I put half in my oatmeal so just threw the other half (it was a large banana) into the smoothie and adds to the creaminess of it over all (not to mention potassium and fiber). This made a single tall glass, you can double it of course to make more (wish I did). Oh and add a little ground flaxseed to get your Omega-3’s!

Berry Pineapple Smoothie

This one I just made this afternoon and may be my new favorite (till the next one) loaded with berries (thus antioxidents) and is very healthy and as always when you add pineapple it becomes the dominant flavor.

1 Cup frozen pineapple chunks
1/3 Cup frozen blueberries
1/3 Cup frozen cranberries
1 Cup frozen strawberries
1 banana
1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed
1/4-1/2 cup of water

Start out with about the 1/4 of water, adding more if it is to thick to blend. Of course you can use fresh fruit if you wish. If you do substitute the water with 1/2 of ice instead.

Makes about 1 1/2-2 servings
