Chai Tea Smoothie

chai_teaIts the fall/winter time and I know how a lot of you like your Chai Tea Latte’s or Vanilla Chai Tea’s, but what about a Chai Tea smoothie to start your morning? Here is a simple recipe to include your favorite Chai tea in. A little more prep as you have to make your tea, but you can always make a big batch the night before and have it ready to add to your blender in the morning.

  • 1/2 cup of your favorite brewed Chai Tea
  • 1/2 cup of soy or rice milk (hey even almond should be good)
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • pinch of ginger
  • 1 large banana (frozen chunks if you can)
  • 1/2-1 cup of crushed ice

Brew up that tea and let it cool a bit then pour it in the blender with everything else adding the ice during the blending. Blend well for 30-60 secs then pour into your favorite glass!

Honestly I have never had Chai Tea, so Im going to have to try this myself.

Yes you can add a little energy boost to your morning smoothie by using green tea. The best way is to of course brew your own tea, as when you buy it in the market it tends to have a lot of additives and sugars. So the night before brew up some of your favorite green tea and put in the fridge till morning. While your add it maybe slice up the fruit and put it in the freezer as well, then should only take you a couple mins to put this together in the morning.

1 Banana
1/2 A honeydew melon cubed (preferably frozen)
1/4 Almond or Rice milk
1 tsp Honey
3/4 cup of green tea, chilled

Thats it! put it all into your blender and blend till smooth. Now besides all of teas great health benefits, it does add caffeine (unless you brew a de-caffenated tea) to the mix here. Some people (like me) try to avoid caffeine so please be aware of this.
