Who dosent love peanut butter? As kids everyone loves a good peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I know many of us also enjoyed peanut butter on a banana. Well why not turn that in to a nutritious breakfast smoothie?
Peanut butter, depending on what type you get, is very nutritious containing fairly high quantities of dietary fiber, amounting to about 8% (which helps in regulating both blood cholesterol and blood sugar levels). Proteins are also present in high amounts (about 24% in weight), together with very important micro-nutrients such as Vitamin E, Vitamin B3 and large amounts of beneficial minerals such as iron, magnesium, potassium, copper and calcium. Yes it has some fat but its all the good fats (Mono and Polyunsaturated Fats) as long as you get an all natural kind.
- 2 cups of soy or rice milk
- 2 tbsp natural peanut butter
- 2 large banana
- 1/2 cup plain fat-free vanilla yogurt
- 1 1/2 cups ice
